Being the rock star, the darling, the golden child
Shooting through the sky like a comet
Everyone watches to see what you will do
Everyone wants to hitch a ride.
You’re a shooting star.
Like a supernova you burn bright and white hot
Everyone wants to know you, be near you, use you
They all want a piece
Grasping and clinging
You burn out
Like a supernova, you implode and all that is left is a black hole.
No one notices you are gone
No one cares
There you sit abandoned and smoldering.
A black hole pulling everything inward
Letting nothing escape
The anger builds
The isolation descends
You wait and watch as a new star ascends.
This is so nice and so true. I can’t tell you how often I get burned out being a nurse. I give them everything I have until there is nothing left to give. Thank you so much for sharing this
Interesting poem… I can really identify with it.
