Distance Learning Strategies For College Students During The Covid-19 Lockdown

The current lockdown is a massive change for all of us. Just a few weeks ago, we roamed free, doing what we wanted and seeing who we pleased. Now, though, with a public health emergency on our hands, we’re stuck indoors, and there’s not much we can do about it.

For students and people who are trying to learn, this time is challenging. Many students have already seen their exams postponed or canceled. And a lot of people now find themselves having to self-teach, which isn’t always easy. Housing issues and financial relief for college students are additional stressors at this time.

The lockdown, however, is not going to go on forever. It will eventually end, and when it does, you want to have something to show for it. In principle, nothing about the current situation should impede your ongoing education, even if times are tough. If you’re furloughed or can’t go to college, there are still plenty of free resources available to you online that will help keep you on track in your educational pursuits.

As the following infographic makes clear, COVID-19 is having a massive impact on educational institutions of all types. Governments have closed official buildings and campuses, and students have to work from home – just like many other people.

Staying focused, though, is a challenge. Students need to find ways to block out the distractions of the world and focus on the task at hand. That means turning off social media, putting the phone away, and, basically, knuckling down for the long haul.

If you’re struggling to focus, please take a look at some of these tips:
